New to Recording. Need Advice.

I just bought a Tascam MFpo1 two days ago and I think it's one of the coolest things for anyone just starting out. Especially for it's price. One problem I've run into though is this: once i record a riff or anything on a single track and play the recording, it only plays on one side, the left speaker. Also, my tone seems somewhat harsh. I assume that's because mainly I'm not playing through an amp and into the recorder. I'm getting a new amp for Christmas and it has a line out so I guess that'll fix that problem. Any other tips or advice would be cool too.

Those recorders only record one track at a time. Stereo takes two tracks (left and right). If there is a selector for a stereo track check that. If not, then you can make it a stereo track with software in the mixdown.

Thanks. Any idea how to tone down the feedback i get? Probably just turn the input level down huh?

Try rolling back the midrange tone. 'Course when ya go direct you probably won't have that problem.
