I had a residency at the Sail and Anchor hotel in Fremanltle,(Aus),in the early 80s.
And this big USS aircraft carrier had recently docked nearby.
There were American sailors every where.
While we were playing late one night, a very polite but extremely drunk sailor offered us $20 if we would play "Wild Thing".
No worries I said, and we played it for him. Then he come back up and offered another $20 if he could sing it with us.
Hey we needed the money, so he sang it, and when it finished he said "lets do it again, here's another 20". OK, the crowd was diggin it, so we went again.
Bet you can't guess what he did when we finished?
Yep, another 20 bucks.
Now this story might not sound so bad, but the sailor sure did.
To this day if I hear Wild Thing, I start to sweat and cringe.
