Take some pieces of wood and put them on fire
and...:008:
(some nice and easy acoustic tabs)

Where Did You Sleep Last Night
(written by "Leadbelly")
(also performed by "Nirvana" on "Nirvana Unplugged")

You can keep this song very easy if you play it this way
and just change your playing intensity.

There are heaps of really good acoustic tabs out there... www.mysongbook.com has some great ones for layla and brothers in arms

Other songs I can recommend for acoustic are "I was only 19" "wish you were here" "nothing else matters" "behind blue eyes" all great tracks for an acoustic.

I don't get this "acoustic tabs" thing. Shouldn't things use the same notes regardless if it's on an acoustic or electric? Or are you guys trying to avoid using barre chords or something? I must be missing something here.

Of course you can play anything that you can play on electric on acoustic, but I am sure you will agree with us that some things just sound better on acoustic.

exactly true. You wouldn't play a lot of this stuff on an electric. Acoustics have a speicific sound, electrics can't capture it.

And also some tabs (chords) for normally electric songs
don't get your were you should if played on acoustic
and so need some little adjustements like other chords,
or extra E-string fill-up like Crusty did with "Smoke...", etc.)
If I can find an example I'll post it...

Laguna Sunrise by Black Sabbath is a great Acoustic tune. No singing with that one though.

Wow, you guys are pretty folksy...
How about John Prine or Blue Rodeo songs? Also recommend "Fisherman's Blues" by the Waterboys. Always had a good response with that one. Have you ever heard of Stan Rogers? Awesome tunes for acoustic guitar.
I try to stay away from the old stuff. I figure if the mainstream radio is playing it...I'm not (with little exception).

I agree that John Prine songs work well, they are easy to play and interesting lyrics.
I'm a big Todd Snider fan. He has some really cool things to play and is a contemporary poet with a good sense of humor. If your good enough, there are lots of bluegrass songs that work well. I can do the background, but there needs to be somebody there that can flatpick for it to really come together.
