What acoustic guitar?

I am looking to buy an acoustic guitar. I have never owned a guitar before and am looking for a cheap package (under £100) which will include things like a guide and a tuner etc... Any suggestions on where to look on the net or what package to go for? ( I am in the UK, so would appreciate British sites to visit ).

Welcome, James18....I do not want to complicate things, but I bought my guitar from America, because I got it half the price that I would normally pay in Britain.

If you want to go for a package, companies (sorry US people if you have never heard of these companies before) like Argos and Index do good cheap packages for under £100.00. Type them into Google and see what you get. Orders over £100 are free delivery.

It is a great idea to start off with a cheap guitar- it feels like you are more in control of the instrument. If you bought a really expensive one to start off with, you would probably feel in awe of it and be too scared to experiment. (fear of damage...)

When I used to jam in a band, my mate had a Gibson (an expensive top range guitar company that make rather flash guitars) and he was a learner. Unfortunately, he seemed more keen to watch his reflection in the window of the room than actual playing!

My first guitar cost a fiver, and because of that, I was not too distracted by any shiny bits etc...

I have progressed to a mid-range guitar (have ben playing for 16 years)- not that you have too, because a good guitarist can make any guitar sing!

Take a look at the Yamaha at the bottom- Yamahas are very good guitars. This is value for money!
