In the future, I'm definitely gonna want a bass (after I'm satisfied with my guitar rig and I have some extra money)
How much are decent bass guitars+amps compared to regular electric guitars and electric guitar amps?
I know I'm gonna need money for insurance, a car of my own, gas, bike parts, and guitar stuff, so I dunno if I'll even have the time or money for a bass... but I really really really wanna get one sooner or later!!

Really? Why?
You'd figure they'd up electric guitar prices as there are alot more 6 string guitar players than bassists. More of an appeal to the masses.

That's why Bass stuff is more expensive. Supply and demand.
They charge more for Bass gear to re-coup design and manufacturing
costs.

For the money, Peavey basses are the way to go. Rogue (a Gibson 'squire') is pretty good too, I've owned both, made one Rogue a fretless and it is saweet! My son gave me a Peavey bass and it has a rockin' bottom end!
Bass amps, Peavey again makes a pretty good one for small money, I have a newer Minx 110 that has a good heavy bottom and can be rounded out quite nicely, has effects loop that I use for my guitar and love the sound. I bought it used for under 100. Ebay has buttloads of Peavey amps very well priced.

Basses are usually around the same price, the amps are more because you need more power for bass and the amp and speaker have to handle more.
Strings are not really more expensive because while they are 5 times the cost of electric strings, you change electric strings 5 times more often.
Get yourself a used bass. Look at Samick, Peavey, Rogue, Ibanez, etc.
