What do you want me to work on next:

I believe that I would like to see more Theory lessons...however, I vote for that not knowing what you plan on doing next in the beginner lessons....I may perhaps want to go that way instead......

Great pubs for a first time guitar begininer. Any ideas when lessons 8 thru 40 going to be active on line or are you holding them for ransom.

I don't think he's holding them for ransom. See, I'm holding HIM for ransom. I never get to see him anymore since he's always got his fingers in the strings or his face at the computer screen. =}

It is my bet he puts 7 up this weekend.

I've been putting the theory lessons up as fast as I can, since most requests have been for that.

How about it? any more votes for more beginning lessons?

Hi Sharon,

What I'm hoping to do is get the next two theory lessons posted, and then I'll concentrate on the next couple of beginner lessons.

My thoughts are these....i agree that getting through to modes will provide a shopping cart full of material (lifetime) for experienced players to work on....so I believe that that is an excellent idea stone....

However...could you give us a brief synopsis as to what you plan to cover in Lesson 7....that may help me generate ideas for music samples like you had asked...and give everyone knowledge to cast a vote accurately....of course if we have no idea what you are talking about....... http://www.zentao.com/ubb/wink.gif

lessons,lessons,lessons. I want more!!!!
Thanks Stone for this kick *** site. It is very helpful...I played the guitar in high school, but got frustrated because my lessons weren't taking me down the "fast track" to the rock and roll hall of fame. So I quit....
I want you to know that I have learned more from your first few beginner lessons than from a month with my previous teacher.
Keeep the lessons coming!!!!!

I know there is no fast track.....but I am older now and have the patience to learn the right way and practice practice practice!!!

More theory for sure. What I think would be helpful would be chord/scale relationships in graphical form, i.e., mixolydian mode (or shape) works over "A" Form major chord and "E7" Form dom7 chord ... which ultimately relates to key centers.

I'm just getting back into playing after laying off for a couple of years due to a finger injury. I plan on creating the above for my own use and will volunteer to contribute the results if anyone's interested.

Boy.... talk about an old thread come back to haunt me

That is one of the many things I hope to include in the theory section, as well as laying out some of the choice chord and scale substitutions.

Right now, I am working on the next lesson for the beginner section and at the same time working with Mr Samson on a new section for the site.

Hey Fusion,

Do you know how to write html?

If you've got some good ideas to share, I might be interested in including them in the lessons.

Let me know.

Man...these days you dont have to know straight up html to design web pages...

I say get him on the bus!!!!

Most definitely...but I don't want it to turn into a place like wholenote either...

Anyway....that would be soo cool

Hey Stone,

Yes, I do know html. I'll put together the chord/scale relationships in html format, send it to you and if you like it or think it's appropriate, you can use it.

I don't think there is any danger of this site turning into another WholeNote... I imagine something better than WholeNote :p

Two things have made WholeNote a success.... interactivity with their midi interface and the ability for members to contribute to the site.

The only reason I go over their is to check up on how many people have viewed my lesson on comparing modes and whether the links back to this sight are still prominently displayed every place I put them... which is all the proof I need that the formula works.

I don't plan to allow Inside The Music to become a free-for-all for everybody else's stuff like WholeNote.... but I am definitely keeping my eye out for people that I feel might be willing to make a contribution and have the right stuff to pull it off.

In the not to distant future, there will be an advice section for wannabe rockers put together in cooperation with a friend of mine who has spent many years in the LA meat market rubbing elbows with various band members and rivals. (hint... this guy went to highschool with James Hetfield and was short-sighted enough to turn down an offer to form a band with him because James and his buddy Lars were just a little too hardcore.)

Stay tuned http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/smokin.gif
