Hi everybody,
Hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place, but as its acoustic i will ask it here.
My electro acoustic guitar is playing up. when I plug it into my amp it just doesnt do anything. its dead.
the pre amp is fine brand new battery etc all the leads have been checked internally.
but its dead. so any idea's, I want to do an open mic and record, but its not working.
its a cedar creek freshman model cutaway folksize and I paid 350 pounds for it so its not bottom of the range.
hope someone can help solve this problem, just hope its not going to be too expensive.

Try posting in the "Tools of the Trade" forum for that, you'll get a lot more replies. :)

Check your cable. I've gone through many batteries only to find there was a short in a cable. So it might be your cable, if you haven't checked your cable yet. Cables are a good source of not working, did you check your cable? :p

Well its bad news, folks, the pickups gone cant be fixed. so i have to get a new one. i've only ever plugged it into the amp three times since i bought it just over a year ago last september. so looks like the warrentys out.

wow. THat bites. Is the pickup just broken in the electro acoustic. You might as well just buy new electronics and not a new guitar.

I just bought a new under saddle transducer & preamp for $40 inc post to UK off ebay. replacing one just involves taking off the strings, lifting out the old one, dropping in the new one, soldering the wire back on in 2places and re assembling. I've done a few from scratch and it's really not a big job. If you7 are confident enoigh to change your own strings (literally!!!) you should be able to do it yourself

thanks for the advice martin,
its really bad that is gone, but the man in the shop had a electrician to look at it and he said that it cant be fixed.
He said to take it back to the shop and get them to order another one for me.
The funny thing is that i hadn't been playing guitar very long when i bought it and everytime i plugged it in it would sound horrid.
But i put it down to my playing and the sound quality of my amp. I dont have a specific acoustic amp.
So I kept playing it unplugged, and learning and loving, until now I wanted to use it for what its intended and its bust.
Its not my sole guitar, so I havent been without any guitar but i do miss it.
I'm going to buy a couple of mic's to record with the other guitars that i own and hope that they work ok.
thanks for showing interest. most people seem to prefer electric.

Naw, Kids who spend more time on the computer than playing a beautiful musical instrument prefer electrics.
