You did good!

I play a Takamine Santa Fe and truly love the thing. One of the reasons I picked it, was because GuitarGretta said she really likes her Tak and would compare it to guitars costing twice as much.

Welcome to the Takamine Club!

I'm so excited to join the Takamine Club! If there is such a thing. It plays very well actually. It isn't a drednaught, so it doesn't have the extreme bassy sound and its great for fingerpicking! It has the nice sweet base sound on the bass strings, but the bass and the rest of the strings don't overlap as much when you play a chord. I've changed from the drednaught to this different, smaller body. I really like it! PLus, its red :-)

Congratulations on the purchase! I bought the 12-string version and couldn't be happier. The EG line of Takamine's are definitely underpriced. I was ready to shell out some cash for a 12-string and shopped around trying all of the different brands models (below $1500) and found this to stand out in tone and feel. Great guitars.

........The EG line of Takamine's are definitely underpriced.........(snip)

AC, Interesting you should say that. I wonder if the EG's are higher price range guitars and they just dropped the prices for the purpose of filling a marketing slot.

I've been thinking Taylor or Tak. But, the Taylors are awful pricey.

i started on a takamine acoustic.... good start, eh? mine's great...... but a lot of the taks i've played have had to be adjusted at the bridge.

I have no idea how they do it. My EG 12-string has figured wood, abalone and mother-of-pearl, nice fretwork, and zero flaws. I took it for a test run at the salesman's advice, even though I was mainly looking for a Taylor, Martin, or Ovation 12. Without knowing the price, the Takamine won me over. The salesman knew what he was doing because he had a big grin on his face. I assumed that the guitar was about 1000 to 1200 dollars. When he told me it was $549, I bought it on the spot. Now I'm in the market for the six-string version.

I've played a few Taks and the deear ones are excellent.

Plugged in, again, they are all great...........

BUT......

the cheaper ones really just don't cut in unplugged.

Anything under £500 (so realistically $500 due to us brits getting ripped off over EVERY darned THING!!!!!) just isn't worth having

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION OF COURSE.........
