Amplifier, same result as electric??

I'm just a beginner in the guitar world but i am willing and i have the tie to learn. I went to some band practice of sameone the ther day and i saw that he had an electri guitar hooked to an amp. When he did hammerons out of the blue you would hear them very good. Now is my question, if i hook my semi-acoustic stagg to a ow budget amp will i get the same result, can i do hammerons out of the beu and make it sound clear??

An amp makes you louder. It can also be used to adjust your tone. I'd say that's a qualified yes to your question.
