I need a good amp for an acoustic electric. Don't need a practice amp. What's a good brand/model? Is Vox mainly for electric guitar?

Anybody play the Roland AC-60? Guy at the 'cool' music store said this was the best deal at around $400. Any opinions?

martin,
I was wondering when using the marshall amp wether all the 50w is given over to guitar and you use a separate system for your vocals. or can the marshall manage both in a public setting.
Is the 50w watts enough to do both.
I am thinking seriously of getting one,
Belle
hope you can help me with this little problem.

you should probably use two systems...one for the guitar and one for vocals. Im not sure though...im just inclined to say this because my friend has a 400 watt peavey something or other and its beautiful just with guitar...and when you plug in a mic it sounds aweful when singing. someone with more knowledge would know better than me of course :D

We use that Amp as a mini PA for things in our church hall.
In a perfect world, yes we'd have a portable PA (PEAVY do a doozy!!) but the Marshall easily takes a mic and a guitar and can havea CD or mini disk too.
Try it in the shop. Make em give you a mike, or better, take your own, with your own guitar too.
It really isexcellent and if we were to loose thhis one from our church I'd definitely buy another and donate it to the cause!!

IMO, the Roland is the best with the Fishman, Marshall, and Fender Acoustasonic right there with it. However, if you want to save some money and still have plenty of amp check out the Peavey and Crates which are also quite good. Also, look at the keyboard amps. About the only difference between the acoustic guitar amps and the keyboard amps is that the acoustic guitar amps will often have built in effects and the really good ones will have a feedback eliminator, but if you're not planning on playing really loud a kbd amp should do (I picked up a Crate KBD amp for mine off ebay for $150 US).

The amp I use is the Fender Acoustisonic Jr and it is good fo shows that are not too huge and you can plug a mike into it direct it gives a nice acoustic sound.

When it comes to acoustic and clean tone amps I have had great luck just buying used solid state amps. I found a Carvin that actually was an acoustic amp at a garage sale for $50. I have also bought 3 other solid state amps in that price over the years. I am not a fan of solid state amps, but they are fantastic for clean tones.

I own a Fishman Loudbox and really like it. The SRW Strawberry Blonde is a nice little acoustic amp, also.
