What's your favorite acoustic brand? If you don't have one, then which makes your favorite acoustic guitar?

Hey man, you left out the Northern Ireland contingent!!!!!
The two best acoustic brands I have ever played are Lowden (Ive played Custom series 00001 (valued at $35,000 by George Lowden himself and currently have a loan of a custom 023 worth about $3500) and McIlroy made by the former production manager at Lowden.

Sorry, with so little room, I had to stick with the most common and known ones. I chose Gibson, by the way.

Dead on, T. I value my 510LTD and about $600k.
On wives;
When I was 14 I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend.
When I was 16 I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion.
When I was 19 I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional.
When I was 21 I found a very stable girl but she was boring.
When I was 25 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her.
When I turned 28, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned.
I am now 30 and am looking for a girl with big boobs….

The best acoustic i've ever played? hmmm...well i have two, the first was a £1499 Larrivee made in canada which i can only dream of owning. The second is a £80 Encore from argos probably made in korea which i own and was my first guitar. Had it for three and a half years and never had to set it up, and never played an acoustic that plays as good.

Well, I went with other, just because I can't afford high end Taylors or Martins to fully try them out, but when testing guitars at a more cheaper price, I found one that sounded much better than most of those on that list, and it came straight from Newfoundland, Canada in the form of Garrison Guitars :)

Didn't include Larrivee in the list? I own a dog pile of acoustics and feel that Larrivee is making the best guitar for the money. I agree with Martin Edwards that Lowdens are the best guitars I have played along with one Martin 000-28 Norman Blake model I've gotten my hands on. Never had the chance to play an Olson (yet).

All I have ever played is my Dean, a Takamine and an Alvarez. Of the acoustics I have played I would have to go with the Alvarez.
ALvarez --1
Dean -- 2
Takamine -- 3
My personal rating for what I have played.
The Takamine did sound weak, maybe it was the light strings but I didnt care for it.

My main electric Ibanez has a great piezio bridge for some sweet acoustic sounds, my 12 string electro acoustic is Ibanez was VERY cheap the electronics are great, sounds awesome, build quality is brilliant, it's beautiful and it plays nicer than most 6 string acoustics i've tried :D
In case yah haven't guessed I love my 12 string :p

I suspected that Ibanez made cool guitars...I love my black AEL10L...originally $450, reduced to $300, bought for £175, thanks to the currency.
Are your electrics on your acoustic Sonicore Fishman? I love the electrics, but IMHO, does not go with the Marshall MG10CD 10W...perhaps I 'aint used to it yet.

On my 12 string they're fishman and my electric has L R Braggs bridge. I never got a good acoustic tone through my old marshall so sold it and I now use a roland cube 60 which has an acoustic modelling channel which sounds damn nice. There are dedicated acoustic amps out there but they're damn expensive :(

Ahhh, so now I have evidence....Marshall amps are not compatible with Ibanez sound setups.... :D :D :D
May get a keyboard amp, like an assistant at the guitar shop recommended...I can then rig other instruments to it too. (like my replacement bass I have not bought yet...)

It sounded good with my humbuckers with distortion lol but that's what marshalls are designed for. Have a look at Roland keyboard amps, they seem to have a good reputation

Your 15. After college and about 10 years exercising you profession, you'll be able to afford with no problem.

It plays better than my Les Paul, I am only guessing however I reckon Maton will release a 60th anniversary model next year, as the company was founded in 1946 so I'll be keeping my eye (and wallet) open...
I'd never heard of satin box wood, it has an incredible smell to it though so it's pretty unique... ;) Unfortunately it's not available for use in guitars any more as it is becoming endangered, due to the fact that Australia (especially Tasmania) has absolutely stupid laws when it comes to logging old growth forests...(trees have to be over 80metres high before they aren't logged...) and the old growth trees are wasted and turned to woodchips...if they're logged i'd much rather them be turned into something valuble rather than a piece of paper... :(

Must be intensely satisfying, building a guitar from a salvaged peice of quality wood...especially when the wood was doomed! Took hundreds of years to grow, gets sawn up in minutes....
A guitar is a brilliant way to continue the ageless legacy of wood....
AM I getting a bit hippyish now? I hope not, I just hate waste! :D :D

FYI, I recently received a Carvin Cobalt 750 for my birthday.
I played it all day the day I received it.
I went to the local Guitar Center the next day and played a $1400 Taylor and a $1200 Martin.
Neither came close.
Cobalt was (and still is) on sale for $619.00
It is an excellent guitar for the price in my opinion.
I record mine through my 2 channel ART Gold MPA Tube Pre-Amp.
I use 1 channel for the electronics and 1 channel mic'd.
I can either choose more of one or the other or blend.

The best acoustic I've ever played was a Gibson J-200 at a guitar store once. It was a magical, eye-opening experience for me. Too bad that the price made it beyong impossible for me to purchase at the time. I wonder what I would think of it now, with 10 years more experience under my belt? But certain things that hit you in the gut like that tend to resonate with you regardless of where you are in life.
