So, since no one commented on my earlier thread. I figgured i'd post again. I recently purchased a takamine guitar. However, not to dimish the standing of takamine, when i opened it at Sam Ash to check for any problems before i purchased it, the strings weren't tightened. Could this have been the way they shipped it? I ask this question because after 20 days or so, (after i just got it) it started to buzz a little on a few frets. Also, when you play an open A or D note, it actually sounds like it is hitting the frets in some places. Could this be a factory set up problem? I am going to get it adjusted soon, so i just wanted to know if it is the action and set up that has made it bad. Thanks

It's possible, even likely, that the strings were loosened for shipping. Sounds like it needs a truss rod adjustment. Can you take it back and have them do that? It should be done by someone that knows how. If you can't get them to do it, I can give ya some pointers.

Actually, i just got back from sam ash. They said that it is prob just something that could be fixed with humidification. The guy at the store said he keeps his 3 martins/taylors at a humidity of like 65 percent. Mine was just at like 35-40. He said that the repair technician, Sam, would humidify it for a few days and re set it up. (aka truss rod adjustment and such). He said that i should humidify it for like 3 orf 4 days. Hihg humidity. It should go back to normal. If not, bring it in and they'd fix it.
