I have tried a number of sets of DR "Rare" phosphor bronze strings and really like the sound. However, in about half the sets, either the third or fourth string will be "wild." What I mean by that is if you play the octave at the 12th fret, you will hear a very noticable pulse or beating going on in the sound. Intonation is out the window when trying to tune other strings to it. I have quit buying them because of this. Has anyone else had problems with DR's?

Does "DR" stand for something?

It's the name of the string company. I believe the "D" stands for Dronge. His dad founded the Guild company. Not sure who Mr. "R" is.

Strung ~ Did you contact DR or let your dealer(store where puchased) know of your problem. Use DR "red devils" on my elec/acouctic and the only problem I`ve had was going to a heavier gage string - can use 10`s or 11`s but 12`s cause a mean bow at the bridge.
