Lets hear your story of a time when you thought you killed your guitar, May it be by dropping, throwing, lighting on fire.

I did something really stupid and tried to do the throw the guitar around your body and catch it again thing. Since i had strap locks i though everything was a-ok. But the one screw got ripped out and my guitar flew off my body and landed in a "soft" patch of grass. The strange thing was that it didnt even dent, scratch, or break anything, and it was still in tune.

Lets hear your story, of close calls, or big falls.

(Yeah Ryhm)

Sounds like ya lucked out. I've had a couple motorcycle accidents where the only damage was light scratches on the pipes, but never anything like that with a guitar. Oh, long time ago I did an "el-kabong" with a guitar. I got upset over something and swung it into the floor like an axe. It broke and I got even angrier. I busted it up so much the longest piece left was the headstock. That wasn't exactly a close call though.

Here is a trick I use: I glue some toothpicks into the hole where the strap lock goes, then I screw it into the body. It has been a lot more sturdy and the screws don't unscrew themselves, at least on my guitar.

what kind of guitarIt was jeez, 33 years ago. I think it was a Kyle. I had a Kyle back around that time. It was a rootbeer brown hollow body with f holes and humbucker type pickups like a Gibson, but a 6 in-line headstock like a Fender.

thanks for the idea, i tried to do that but i have the screw on so tight i cant really get it off, so i guess i dont have to worry anymore, I used saw dust and wood glue and that has the thing in really tight

i find the straplock provided screws are often way too short. go to the hardware store and get the longest screw that you can for the straplocks. drill to the proper depth with a bit one or 2 sizes too small. if you cant find anything long enough to fit, dont be afriad to file out the smallest screw hole of the strap button part of the straplock a little.

That Strat probably knows how to play itself by now. Looks like it's been around awhile.

ooh one time i was playing (just playing not doing anything wild just standing there) and the guitar strap like came of and the guitar went falling down on top of my feet first i probably uttered a profane word because my toe hurt and then i got worried that the fall might have done some damage to the guitar (also my toe nails hadn't bin clipped for a while so they may have scratched it) but when i checked it was totally fine, my toe still hurt like hell though lol

I was seriously considering buying the cheapest guitar I could find and putting a decent humbucker in it so it would sound ok and then destroying it Townshend-style at my talent show. I decided not to, because I figured it would be a waste of $80 or so, and I probably would've gotten in trouble anyway. Would've been cool though. Maybe next year.

I was spinning around on my knees rapidly in my chair and then then I tipped over and the chair came with me and I landed on my Dillion. It fell off of the stand but nothing bad happened.

My stomach hurts thinking about it. :(

one time i set my guitar against a speaker at my friend brad's house... and we were playing medal of honor-rising sun.... and he walked right up to a guy and shot him in the back of the head... so we were jumping!!!!! making the house shake....... so there it goes... right to the floor.... ouch... not a string out of tune.... got pretty lucky on that one i'd say... i almost peed my self cause i was so scared, and very impaired.

good one stupid,

Nothing beats the Paul's broken neck, that was the ultimate non-close call.

The Neck broke while it was still in its "Protective" case

I was playing once, and all of a sudden the strap fell off the back strap screw. Luckily, I was holding the neck, and the guitar swung down to dangle from my left hand. I was seriously scared for a moment.

yo viking, that happens to everyone, dont worry about it. Just get strap locks, or play sitting down

we were having a band practise in a garage one time and we had this new singer who showed up late and who me and the other guitarist took an immediate dislike to, for various reasons (including a huge ego) but anyways, he asks me if he can play my guitar for a minute so im like..yeah dude, and i hand it to him by the top horn and he has his hand around it so i let go... and my guitar falls from about 4 feet up onto the solid concrete floor. "WHAT THE ****!!!!!!", I yelled in anguish. "I THOUGHT YOU HAD IT!!!" the singer just shrugged his shoulders and said "i thought YOU still had it!" i was not happy at all. Took a nice dent outta the bottom left side if i remember right, and the singer was kicked out a few days later anyway.

You sure like triple posting, don't you?

Anyway, I was changing my strings and I was screwing the back, back on. The screwdriver slipped and I dragged a white spot across the back.....

I was jamming in the practice room at school once and at the end of my big solo (probably smells like teen spirit or something lol) I hoisted the guitar up above my head...and straight into the ceiling fan. So the headstock went straight into the blade and almost knocked me over...luckily I came to rest on the drumkit still clutching at the now chipped Vester... could have been worse.

After that we all laughed and threw drum sticks at each other.

^^^hahaahah if that wasnt supposed to be funny it was...ive dropped my guitar loads of times...im pretty good at catching it if the strap falls off...ive hit the headstock on doorjams, desks, walls, myself, other people...back to the strap thing...the other day i started doing this shred solo(with no one else...just me/amp/guitar/wah) and like a minute into it the strap falls off so i rip it off all crazy like(note: im in my room by myself...acting like im on stage) and i just continue to shred for like 15 minutes strapless...it was a pretty good solo too...
