Alright, so time has come to buy my first bass.

I show up at the shop, grab the bass I'm intrested in buying and try it out.

But what do I play? I'm asking what riffs I can play to try out the bass and what I should look for while I'm playing.

You could run a basic blues walk, forward and backward through a few chord progressions, or you could do some simple little riffs like Steppin' Out by Cream or Three Steps by Skynyrd. Something like that. You could always try out some of Victor Wooten's stuff, but if you're buying your first bass, well...LOL.

I can play "Money" by Pink Floyd
also "Last Resort" by Papa Roach

Oh, I love Papa Roach, not a big Floyd fan though. But hey, if it works it works. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

Alright, I'll be sure to do that.

I went down to the guitar store today, they didn't have the bass I wanted (Fender Precission), so I turned to the other bass I had in mind (B.C Rich Warlock), they had it, sounded good to me, but my mom won't let me get it, yet.

I will in a few days though.

I've never played either of those, but the other day our lead player bought a washburn bass that's really sweet, with active electronics. The sound really surprised me.

Seems like I'm going to end up with a sunburst, Fender Highway 1, Precision bass. I'm supposed to go pick it up on Tuesday.

Anybody have any comments or things I should know about the Highway 1?

Highway 1 are good instruments... I think it should make for a killer bass.

Yeah, got it.

Insane bass, that's for sure.

I love bursting out in "Raining Blood" by Slayer in the middle of band class at school...So damn funny.
