Much, much better. This is a 10 string warr guitar, and they also have 8 and 12 string versions. Trey Gunn is one of my favourite bass/warr/touch guitar players, and plays in King Crimson. I think the guitar looks great, just check out his signature series in the link above.
Plus check out a 14 string warr guitar here:

Of course, these aren't exactly bass guitars. Check out some of the videos on the site, particularly this one:

It's Trey Gunn's Band, he's the guy on the left.

Thats a Triple Course, and it's played with both hands, I play one, it's not for everyone, you sorta have to use both sides of your brian, like rubbing your head in a clockwise motion while rubbing your stomach in a counter-clockwise motion

You must need one hell of an amp to get half of those strings heard. I know we've done the bowel-emptying topic before but still...

Hey Joe, that instrument you show in your pic is a Chapman stick, no?
Crazy or not, it is quite a machine. Listen to the videos on the link I posted above. Remember, it is not picked or strummed. All sound is produced by means of hammer-ons and pull-offs. One reaches the left-hand strings (as viewed in the picture) with the right hand. Both hands are used to hammer and pull-off. The 'stick is held vertically so that both hands come in at right angls to the strings, i.e. parallel to the frets.

I have an old Hagstrom 8 string. What a nightmare! Strings are not cheap either if you can find them. The neck is bulit like a tank, I guess it would have to be with 8 strings and long scale. I have used it maybe 3 times in the last 15 years. Maybe I'll go dig that thing out and start messing with it again. I never understood all the switches on it, I think I'm going to rewire it as it needs new strings anyway and bypass all the switches and wire it like a Fender.

judging by those frets, id say thats made by conklin. is it? they make pretty wack guitars with the angled frets like that. such as rusty cooleys 8 string

I love how the Chapman page has this guy with his eyes closed, soulfully playing that monstrosity, like it's the easiest thing in the world.
My eyes would be bug eyed, wide open, trying to play one of those things. Or any of the guitars discussed in this thread.
