nah not something to import and change notes into a midi file, but rather to open, and remove certain instruments from a pre-existing midi file, my guitar teacher said he uses cubase, but it won't work on my computer.
...or if anyone knows of a decent backing track to icarus' dream suite opus 4 by yngwie malmsteen...

Anvil Studio is the best free one out there.

Well at least you try it. Its a very handy program that very few people even hear about.
Care to tell m e why you dont like it?

i prefer power tab editor greatly over guitar pro, coz it's easier to use, and looks better printed out. i don't think you understand what kinda program i'm looking for...i'm not looking to import a midi file into a program, and actually change notes and stuff, as you can do in PTE and GP4, but rather open a midi file like a multitracking program like acid, and delete certain instruments completely.

You can delete instruments completely in GP4 very easily.
Also, I think you think PT is easier because it has less features to worry about and the fact that you know how to use it better.
If you spend some time learning all the stuff GP4 can do, you'll wonder how you got along without it.

no...i won't :) i've tried importing the midi and editing it in GP4...let's just say it didn't work, and i know how to use the program. i don't care if the GP4 people are paying you, stop endorsing the program :p

Lol, they arent paying me, but I do stuff like this all the time when I really like a product. I can help you figure out why you are having problems importing. It works perfectly for me.
The other reason that I do all the promoting is because I am sick of seeing threads like this where people ask all these questions and recommend all theses programs, but GP4 does everything they mention. No one even knows about the program but its the best out there.
