Well, I've been interviewing this weekend for a local band who's looking for guitarist(s), etc. Saturday I met them down in Uptown, which if you don't know Minneapolis is the 'artsy' district. That went well, I brought my demo with me and he was digging my music a lot. He played a couple of theirs, and it wasn't bad either.

As part 2 to the process, he had us meet him and a couple others down at Famous Daves in Uptown last night for their weekly Sunday Night Blues Jams. This is, imo THE coolest place a guy can jam without being in a band. Anywaysm, I imagine this was to see how we played live, handled a crowd etc. With a 2 song limit, I played Pipeline and just filled in on the other song with some rhythms and lead. Each musician got a round on the ol' I IV V between verses. I was going to play Life By The Drop but I'm not quite ready to play and sing that one yet, timing still needs some work.

There was guitars, harmonicas, sax players, keys, drums and some great lead singers. Pure BBQ and blues. If it wasn't a I IV V and some combination of the 3, it prob. didn't get played, but it didn't matter. What a great time, if it wasn't so far from home and Sunday nights I'd be there every time.

So, Wednesday night we're going to the practice space for this band and we're going to take a shot at re-writing one of the songs I heard Saturday. I'll know that night if I'm in or not.

I'm still not too sure on the dynamics of everything... this is what I know. It's an 'Art Rock Band', I have a fairly good idea of what this means, but I'm not %100 sure. I know it's not genre specific. He said there will be different shows, with different themes. This is where it gets... odd. The first show is already laid out theme wise but we're supposed to come up with and write out a themed show afterwards revolving around said particular theme. I think it can be pretty cool if the focus is on music, I'm just worried that it's getting in to the realm of being to far separated from that. Either way, so far it's going %1000 better than my last audtion so that's a bonus. It should be interesting to say the least, worst case scenario I had the opportunity to jam at Famous Dave's last night with some great musicians to a couple hundred people. That was cool enough in it's right.
