Okay, so if i go buy this:-

tommorrow, plug it into my computer, and start playing, do you think it would work alright?

Can i just open up windows media player and record it there? Or do i need some software?

You need to make sure the mike is "high Impeadence" to use on a sound card or you have to buy a transformer to convert it. Alot depends on the quality of your sound card. As far as recording, you will need a program. There is a couple free ones out there. Here is the links.
