With that out of the way, if you play drums and have a way to record (so it dont sound like crap) please post back to this. Give me some ideas of what songs you could do, but for now im looking to see if anyone can record the song "Sober" by Tool. thanks for your posts

Usually, I just put two mikes over the kit in an x/y pattern and one in the bass drum. An x/y pattern is where the business ends of the microphones are next to each other, sort of like this /\.

I have a 5 PC kit. Snare,2 Toms, 1 floor tom and one BD.I place a mic between each tom, One direct over the Snare,One in the BD,2 from the ceiling for cymbles and Ride, one just underneath the floor tom ,one for highhat.
I can give it a try. I can also do the drums from the DM that I have.
No time to do this this weekend.. Too much going on, but I could do one Monday or Teusday.

Sorry, I misread your post and thought you were interested in techniques. I don't know the song, so Keith is your man on this one.

Dude that would be awsome if you could. Take your time, no rush. But i dont want to use the comp program to do this song. So if you decide to do it, let me know

Got your PM. Lemme have a couple of days to go over this song, so i don't muck it up.
Guitar, I could do this in less than 2 hours, but drums.. It's been a while, so bear with me.

Seriously? Jeez, pick a harder tune why don't ya?
Tool has always reminded me of Zeppelin == they make it sound so easy till you sit down and try to replicate it.
Good luck Keith -- Danny Carrey is a great drummer.

I used to play that tune in a band, we had a great drummer. That tune has got some weird timings to it here and there. Overall is it probably the most difficult for the drummer and singer, we guitarists get to slack of on that one.

definitely, thats why i wanted someone who played drums to record this one. The reason im doing this song is because my friend has a voice just like him. I would start a band with him, but i dont know if i could handle doing just Tool and Perfect Circle songs
