For the past few months I've been close to going Pro Tools or Cubase. The dinosaur in me won out and I'm staying with my Adat for the time being. I did replace my mixer with a used (mint) Mackie VLZ 1604 Pro. For years I've been making myself crazy trying to make an old Peavy AMR 1242 sound good. :o I cannot believe the difference. The Mackie eq is so responsive. Very quiet board with lots of headroom. The mic pres on the Mackie are great too, but since I stack tracks one at a time I'm still running through a Symetrix 202 pre staight to tape, but the mix down on the Mackie is a dream. This is probably old news to most of you but if anyone out there is in the need of a mixer on a budget the 1604 is awesome and can be had for $400 to $500. Maybe next spring I'll face the learning curve of computer recording but for now I've just made a nice move up. :D

Edit...I meant to post this in Red Light :hmmm:
