Well well..
so last night it was done.. a mini-concert.. well.. more, like.. i dunno how to call it .. lol
anyway: I'm a barkeeper, and my boss always wants me to play at the bar.. even though he knows that i mostly play pink floyd and hendrix and stuff
so he asked me again, to play on his wifes birthday party
i finally agreed..
i have to mention that here in the very south of norway they like cheesy sleezy norwegian country with songs like "the fisherman waves while he's sailing away" and crap like that :)
So i already knew, they won't like it that much, but i took the oportunity to test my live-sound and see how i feel playing in front of a few more people than my girlfriend and my cat :)
It was just me, my fender, my gnx4, and backingtracks (lol) over a hell-of-a-pa that was extra rented because ours was too small (and we have a good one in that pub)
my setlist was:
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
Hendrix - Little Wing
Hendrix - Hey Joe
Pink Floyd - Money
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (btw: this was the first time i got goosebumps just by playing it myself really loud.. )
As predicted, nobody liked it out of those about 50 people..
exept one old hippie, who was standing right next to the speakers ;), my maybe father-in-law, and my boss (well, he didn't really like it, but he thanked me and gave me some extra bucks, and said, it played good)
The rest of the evening i was serving behind the bar, and was ******, that the people didn't say anything.. even if it was a "you suck".. then at least i know they paid attention.. but no reaction at all is kinda frustrating..
but who cares.. shortly before i closed down another guy (a business guy who runs a couple of businesses in that era) told me, he really enjoyed my little show, since he loves hendrix and floyd, and apologized that he didn't gratulate earlier, since unfortunatly many business-partners aren't very open minded when it comes to different music-taste (in other words, the might push him away) and he gave me a really really nice tipping :)
so afterwards when i came "home" my girlfriend and her father (who are my biggest critics usually) gratulated me, and said it sounded awsome, but also told me exactly what notes i messed up (the have hidden behind the pa, and wrote it down.. well.. all in all it was 9 completly off-notes and 6 unclean played ones.. not too bad i think)
all in all:
it was fun.. very fun.. even tho the "audience" wasn't as pleased as i am.. fortunatly i already expected that i just play because my boss wanted me to, and that i finally had the chance to play my fav songs on a good sounding and loud PA :)
