So today was an open mic at school today, and i will let you in on the wonders and blunders of it all...
So the first thing i did for the open mic was Hey Joe with my freind/bandmate with the hyronic name of Joey. We used a "hired gun" drummer since our normal one was unavailable. So this was my first tiem playing for an audiance and i had to aslo sing (which i dont normally do). I was super nervous at first my knees were buckilng a little but then i realized all these people were saying "go john" which meant i could probally get a screw up and live so i loosened up a little and had fun with it. It went well i was very pleased.
Next i was helping joey with the song "so this is christmas by lennon" i was not playing guitar i was just gonna sing with him to give him you know some extra courage lol. This song tanked hard core, i never realized without my guitar i had no sense of timimg in a song. So i sang it off beat the whole time and joeys guitar strap came loose and he nearly dropped his guitar. We had a good laugh at it after though no one really cared how bad we did it they were all just in the x-mas spirit.
The last thing did was with the gun for hire drummer, a guitarist nammed Yannick and another guitar player named reed (omg 3 guitars! lol). We were doing stairway to heaven because a teacher promised Reed if he did it he could use the teachers Les Paul. When Reed told me he wanted to do it to use the Paul i was happy to oblige and grabbed an acoustic. Then yannick joined us just for the heck of it. Then unfortunate part of this is the person who was going to sing chickened out and left us high and dry soooo we did it without him. so after the intro bridge ect of stairway we kick into the solo. It started with me and Yannick doing the 3 barre chord part at the end of stairway while Reed did the solo. After which Reed and Yannick were doing the 3 chord part so i jumped in witha solo. After which i told Yannick to do one. After which Reed felt it nessecary to do a fourth and final ending solo. Lol after which we recieved huge aplause. Very pleasing indeed, one of the best feelings ive ever had. As i stepped off the playing are my Scicne teacher said "wow you guys dragged that one out eh" WE all had a good laugh.
