Just a quick question...
The internet guitar instruction is really good and really informative. But, cough cough, is it better to have hands on instruction?
Like, is the internet tutor a bad/decent/good replacement for a traditional tutor??
What are your thoughts? I am asking because as I progress, I wonder if it would be wise to have someone physically show me the mistakes that I am making.

That choice is yours. I would suggest if you're going to take lessons, that you begin as soon as possible. If you're self motivated and self disiplined, then on-line lessons should do you just fine. The reason I suggest taking lessons early is that no matter how hard you try not to, some bad habits are going to creep in and the unlearning process is worse than learning. Just remember, for most, myself included the guitar is a very individual instrument and there is no clear cut right or wrong way to play. As long as you feel you are making progress at a rate that satisfies you, then lessons are optional. Hope this helps.

Aside from that good advice... I would say that a lot depends on what quality of instruction is available in your area. Anybody can hang a shingle that says, "guitar lessons taught here." Unless you have access to a top dog teacher, then taking "live" lessons may be a fruitless exercise.

I say if you can afford it, find a good teacher(preferably with references),and have the disipline to use what all this info has to offer then take the lessons. The only thing you have to lose is the possible progress you might have made and the money.
I'm using both and I feel I am learning from each one different things that I may not have individually.
My 2 cents.
