I am interested in learning about Open tuning and would like any information about books, videos etc that may help me. I would also like to learn the sort of stuff that Ritchie Blackmoore plays on the Shadow of the moon and Violet Moon albums, so I would like to get hold of the music/tab. any suggestions?

Thanks

Try an open D tuning for starters.
From top to bottom, tune:
D A D F# A D

This is a great one for slide. (If you don't have one you can always grab a spark plug socket!)

I'm not real comfy with open tunings yet, but have experimented with it some. There are dozens of alternate tunings, but I would suggest that you take them one at a time until you find something you really dig. When you do you can beat it to death and explore all its possibilities.

I have used the open D tuning and tried a few others as well. Some of Eric Claptons stuff from the unplugged album is open tuned. The main problem I have is finding music and tab scores for stuff. Just cant find any. http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/confused.gif

Plus I really want to learn some of Ritchie Blackmores stuff, but again no music. Thanks for the help, anyone else got any suggestions?
