I was wondering how to read guitar tabs.
I have goton a number of answers from sites and people, and some make more sence then others. ( I was wondering how to play GoodRidince, Greenday) because I like the playing in that. It doesn't seem to hard. Someone told me today that the lines represent strings and you play the note on the lines but there was no note. Instead there was 7-7 or 9-9...Its hard!!
Thanks

Have you looked at my "How to read TAB" (http://www.zentao.com/guitar/tab/) section?
Those numbers are the notes. Whatever the number is.... that's what fret you play on that particular string.
E|--------------------
B|--------------------
G|--------------------
D|-------9------------
A|--------------------
E|--------------------
Means to play the note at the 9th fret of the D-string.
What TAB doesn't show you is the rhythm or timing of the notes. You have to get that by listening to the recording.

But instead of a 9 its like 9-9. whats that?

You mean like this?
E|--------------------
B|--------------------
G|--------------------
D|-------9-9----------
A|--------------------
E|--------------------
That just means that you play the note twice. Every time you see a number, it means to play that particular note on that particular string at that particular fret.
If the numbers are stacked vertically like this:
E|--------------------
B|-------9------------
G|-------9------------
D|-------9------------
A|--------------------
E|--------------------
Then you play all those notes at the same time... like a chord.
If the numbers are spread out like this:
E|--------------------
B|-----------9--------
G|---------9----------
D|-----9-9------------
A|--------------------
E|--------------------
Then you play each note one after the other from left to right. In this case, you would play the 9th fret of the D-string twice and then you would play the 9th fret of the G-string and then the 9th fret of the B-string.
