A couple questions on these inverted powerchords. First, the third string being played on a Power chord (not inverted) is the octave of the original. Why can't I play the octave of the fifth on the inverted powerchord to give it some extra sound?

Also, many of you may know that those punk bands ONLY use powerchords for most of their songs...is there any reason they dont use inverted powerchords?...Just wondering

Thanks

It's all about sound. The inverted power chord has a certain sound that seems to be just the thing for hard rock/heavy metal.

There's no reason that you can't add the octave of the 5th... that is pretty common too.
