friday nights practice was by far the wrost ive ever had to endure. ever. EVER. almost everything that couldve gone wrong did. bernie broke two strings, every time we ran through the songs it sucked horribly, jimmy kicked his way through the kick drum head thing, our mic wasnt working, half our audience was gone by the third song, and i broke my glasses. oh, and gus dropped and broke his camera, therefore losing alllllll our band photos that we ever took. it sucked.

Okay.

I guess you feel better now that you wrote that? Because you don't say you want any discussion.

Still, since it's a forum, let me add my two cents by saying that my band has had rehearsals like that. But, I admit, you have a few more obstacles to overcome than we do presently, which is truly incredible, but makes me feel fortunate.

However, nothing you mentioned is not "fixable."

That is what being in a band is all about. You encounter problem "a," and you eliminate it. Next, comes problem "b," then "c." By the time you do your next show, there are FEWER major problems. Now you begin eliminating the smaller problems. And you get better and better.

Then one day you read a post like yours and say, "I remember those days."

By the way, why was there an "audience" at your "practice"?

Just one of those days I guess. But like the dude above me said, it's all fixable with time and patience.

That reminds me In... your mom called and said she accidentally ran over your puppy!
Just kidding.
Things can only get better, right? :)

Why was there an audience at your practice

Ever been electricuted by the vocal mic? Come talk to me once you have.

I'm kidding- but it coulda been worse. Equipment will break. I had a gig once in High School when my lefty guitarist broke the B and E strings- didn't have ANY extras, and despite the fact there were 3 other bands there- no one else had strings OR a lefty guitar he could use. So he switched to bass and I filled in on a crap Hondo strat copy belonging to another band. This was before I had ever played guitar at all really. It was, in a word, disgusting. We were sort of a grunge rock band anyway, so we just turned all the effects up, and let the instruments make noises, and I just screamed into the mic- but it was a pretty awkward gig.

Anyway losing the band photos would be a pain though- I can sympathize with that big time.

Mr. B - I'm still LOL...a Hondo Strat....I used to have on of those. They were kind of cool.. Whatever happened to Hondo?

Yeah it was the ugliest, heaviest strat I ever saw. Had to weigh 20lbs easy, lol. Musta been made out of oak or sequoia or something, lol. Had those MASSIVE single coil pups too, that nasty worn-orange color. Plus the dude who owned it had done a full spray paint and sharpie job on it- and it was tacky to touch. Oh yeah, a joy to play AND hear.

Funny thing is I was SO just goofing around cause I had NO idea what I was doing- this was, as I said, before I'd started playing guitar, so I was just doing wild bends, and plucking random strings and frets at random, and running every effect I had at the same time... But when I handed it back to the kid he said he'd never heard anything like that before and he looked at his own guitar like that guy at the end of "Back To the Future? after Marty wails on "Johnny B. Goode" and gives the guitar back to the guy.

Anyway it's the Terrible shows/jams you look back on fondly. 10 years later I can barely remember the dozen or so gigs we played that went well- it's only the effed up ones that stick in my mind. Funny how that works.

The dude who started the thread said all this happened during a practice. I guess the question is why were there spactators?

We used to have an "audience" at our practices. Some people would call them "groupies." Chicks that think they're cool because they hang out with the band, though most consisted of the other band members' girlfriends and friends of theirs that just wanted to check us out.

I think the most we ever had was like 30 people... it was cool though 'cause you get some good feedback and it turns into a big party jam session.
