I've been trying to get in good with Wedding Coordinators in hopes that they would refer some wedding gigs my way but have been unsuccessful.

Has anyone done this before?

I never did, but it's a great idea!! I would approach it in a way that encourages the coordinator to be in control, at least very involved. If they recommend you, their butt is on the line. If you get one to talk to you, let them know you want to be the best wedding band on the market and would appreciate their suggestions. Everything from song list, volume, dress etc...I think you're on to something here, but be prepared to listen and do what they say. Their only motivation to use you would be that they are 100% confident that they have a partnership with you and that you would do an outstanding (not just good) job. You could even offer them a 15% commision on the gig. However their main concern would be the quality of your performance not the money. Their reputation would be at stake. Wedding planners get the credit when things go smooth, they also catch a lot of heat from mother in laws when things go wrong.
