Is it OK to use different fingers for chords if it feels more comfortable? For instance I find it much easier to use my 1,2 and 3 fingers for the Gm instead of the 2,3 and 4 finger. I find it very hard to get my little finger to do anything. Thank you.

You should definitely do what is comfortable, but regarding your pinky, learn some some scales and practice them and build some pinky power!!! You won't regret it.http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/facelick.gif

For certain songs you will find it much easier to just use fingers 234 for the chords and keep 1 still, and the same goes for some riffs. Play it whichever way fits in easiest with the song you are playing.

Which Gmin are you playing with 2, 3 and 4?

Well... if it's the open position GMaj.... I use 1, 2 and 3 for that one... never saw much point in using 2, 3 and 4.

Assuming it is the open G maj., the advantages of 2,3,4 is that it is much faster to get to the G7 (or maj. 7) because the index is just floating around and it's a quick swap with the pinky. It also has the index in good position to get to an open position C, A min, F, etc., if the progression should call for that. Makes for some quicker transitions, which is important for beginners still training their fingers.

Thank you all very much. You are a great help. It was the G maj I was talking about. See how much I know, lol. Thanks again.
