Try Cry Freedom by Dave Matthews. The rhythm is simple and it gets your hands adjusted to stretching.

The easiest song in the world to learn, "Horse With No Name". Two cords and you feel like a pro!
Make an Em, then move both fingers out one string to make a F#m13. It is so easy and sounds SO great!

One thing that I find helps in getting started is REALLY simple songs. The kind that never leave your head no matter what. Stuff like "Baba Black Sheep" and other nursery rhymes. Just pick a key and work in and around the major scale. When you get one down from start to finish off the top of your head, you're set. Next thing you want to do is play some really easy minor pentatonic stuff in the same way. "*****" by the Rolling Stones is a good one to fiddle around with. The important part is that you figure it out for yourself, instead of grabbing a TAB. Now you certainly don't have to use nursery rhymes or "old people music", you can use whatever you like to hear or play (which you will find are not always the same thing), as long as it's simple enough that you can hear every note clearly and it helps if the tune repeats itself. If you ever played Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo, that's a good song to work out in C Major (I'm pretty sure). What I'm saying is, don't think for a second that "It's too tough for me", the fact is, after you play for a while, music will sound completely different. I used to think guys like Clapton and SRV were doing something totally off the wall, but now I can trace 95% of what they do back to "Boom boom boom", etc.

Try "nothing else matters" by metallica, it's easy.

also try black sabbath (ofcourse if you like classic heavy metal). Actually none of black sabbath songs are hard, except solo from N.I.B (still can't play it)

If not, go with classic riff of "Smoke on the water" by deep purple or try to play "I love rock'n'roll" - Joan Jett

Out of all these posts I'm Suprised no one mentioned any Alice in Chains or Blind Melon.
Try some of these
Rooster - AIC
Got me wrong - AIC
Nutshell - AIC
Angry Chair - AIC
Walk - Blind Melon
Change - Blind Melon
No Rain - Blind Melon
Run Around - Blues Traveler
Mountain Wins Again - Blues traveler
Used to Love Her - Guns & Roses
Throw Your Arms Around Me - Pearl Jam
Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam
Rivers of babylon - Bob Marley
No Woman No Cry - Bob Marley
Mr Bake-O - Adam Sandler (People Love this)
Fire - Jimi Hendrix
Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix

Let me know if you need help or the Correct way to play any of these. Tabs on the internet arn't alway right.

I may have been overly ambitious by as my first full song I am learning Sweet Home Alabama. I'm learning it from a video tutorial and there are some slides, hammer ons, and pull offs in it, but I have to say that the process of learning this song has taught me a lot. I have not mastered it yet but I think that one more week and I will have it. My point is that learning an easy song teaches you easy stuff that may quickly get boring. A harder song may take longer but will offer more reward.

Try: Here, There, and Everywhere, by the Beatles. It's a gentle introduction to bar chords, and the steady rhythm is helpful in developing fluidity in your changes. It also introduces mi7 and 7 chords (which are accomplished by leaving certain fingers off -- actually easier than major chords), which makes you feel like a pro, even though it's really simple. I learned it when I was 15, and 15 years later I still enjoy playing that song occasionally. Plus your girlfriend will swoon, which is a nice bonus.

OK, here it is. The easiest song to play is Cocaine. Four bar chords. E,D,C,B. I have only been playing for about 6 months and I learned it last night in about 30 minutes. The basic song that is. I learned it from a video tutorial and the dude said that this is a great song to use for practicing your soloing because you can learn the basic song quicky and then just work in some soloing type stuff. Throw in some good distortion and make sure to get some good slides from the D to the E and you will be sounding like Clapton himself in no time. Use root 5 bar chords for the whole thing.
