Yo Stone,

Will you be posting any lessons on fingerpicking? It would be nice to learn different styles of fingerpicking, such as classical, flamenco, jazz, country . . . me, and I'm sure others would love to learn some of this.

Thanks in advance,

ghodaddyyo

I'm a dedicated pick wielder for the most part... too much Al DiMeola I guess http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smile.gif

I do plan to include some stuff on using finger picking in conjunction with the pick. Maybe I'll see if I can't dig up some resources on different styles of finger picking and incorporate that as well.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I second that...only within the last month have I tried to make up songs that are fingerpicked....and I discovered something...it is fun...especially with my new Chorus Pedal for some reason...that would be cool to explore sometime here....

Fingerpicking in conjunction with a pick. An old folk-style guitar teacher of mine used to do this very efficiently. I used to think that this was a "geezer" technique. Now that I'm approaching geezerdom, and notice a lot of jazz players use this trick, I too want to learn.

When you are picking a three string chord, I imagine that you would use the pick on the lowest note, but what fingers would you use to pluck the remaining strings? I can do this technique slowly on a 4 string chord, but 3? Or for that matter, what about 5 string chords?

Most of the stuff that I come up with that uses this technique relies on the pick and the middle and ring finger. I use it mainly on acoustic for getting a syncopated base line/chord movement thing happening.

Ocassionally I will throw in the pinky, but that is pretty rare.

I would think that if you are going for a chord across 5 strings, that you would be better off just going 100% finger style.
