Great site, great lessons.

I'm looking for some advice on a practice schedule. I can get 1 hour 3 days a week and 1/2 hour the other 4 days. I want to put the time I have to the best possible use. I'm pretty much a beginner.

I was trying to do Stone's finger torture form lesson 2 to start each practice but I would run out of time on my short days. (Actually, it is a fantastic exercise. I'm reaping benefits already)

What should I focus on? Scales, chords, theory???

Thanks,

My advice would be to work on all of it... but spread it out though the week. A lot depends on your attention span though.

A half hour spent on any one thing can be too much in the beginning... maybe 15 minutes of that will be productive for your muscles and nervous system. So, if you break your practice routine into four 15 minute chunks, you can hit all four chunks on your one-hour days and hit all four chunks spread across two sessions on your half-hour days.

For the 1st chunk, you could concentrate on warming up with one of the exercises. For the second chunk, you could work on learning chords. For the third chunk, you could work on learning scales and the fourth chunk could be devoted to learning a song or just playing music.
