I was wondering if anyone knew any Spanish guitar chords and/or knew how to play Spanish guitar? I'm really interested in learning so that I can serenade a female friend of mine (AHHHHH YAH!) Any help you can give me I would GREATLY appreciate! Thank you!

That would be "Flamenco" guitar, not "Spanish" guitar. You'll need a nylon string guitar, and you'd do best if you grew your picking hand fingernails and filed them into guitar picks. Flamenco chords are pretty much the same as most other chords, only they like to drone on the strings.

Rest your picking hand thumb on the bass string(s) of your guitar chord. Curl the rest of your fingers under into a loose fist. Strumming is achieved by rapidly flicking your fingers out across the strings, and you'll play melodies with primarily you first and middle finger.

Try this chord progression:

e------0----0----
b------0----0----
g------2----3----
d------2----3----
a------1----2----
e------0----0----

Use the strumming method I described above to give it a real strong flamenco flavor. Fire your picking fingers out to give a tight, rapid bruuum, bruuum, bum bum sound. Play each chord about four times each, or just use your own "Spanish" imagination. Sometimes they really abuse the strings only to caress the melody, or the other way around. Experiment with it, this is only the beginning. After that you can use the Spanish Phrygian scale to add melodies. You can find that scale in StoneDragons lessons.

ttfn,

john
