Lately some of you may know that I've gotten into fingerpicking (fingerstyle...what is the right term?)
Anyway, I was playing around with basic chords today and realized they sound really nice when fingerpicked in different patterns. Then I went online and looked at some different songs related to this style. It seems that the few I looked at were IN FACT based on chords.

So what I am getting at is, are most fingerpicking songs based on chords?

You got it. When you get real fancy, you can add melody lines to the fingerpicked chords and create my favorite guitar music - Chord Melodies.

Yeah I noticed that also...Obviously chords are based on the scale it was originated from...so what I was doing was finding notes within the scale close to the a fret I was currently holding down while appregiating (how is that pronounced?) and mix it in...sounded pretty good.

Arpeggio (are-pedg-e-oh) is the root word.
