I had an Antoria strat copy. It was a natural finish ( Alder I think ), with a white scratchplate & pickup covers, and a maple neck with 70's style headstock.
Think I traded it for something like a Telecaster, but I wish I still had it . . .

i have a career stage series guitar, i know you never heard of them, but i got it cheap you know just to practice stuff on it, then i decided to repaint it last week, it was a mess, so im sanding it down right now and probably gonna keep it in its natural finish.

Mine is/was a cheapo, probably Teisco. Now it's in my closet under the stairs. I'm saving it for my kids to use, if/when they get the bug. Bask in it's crapiness here: www.mzla.com/guitar/old.html ;)

Yamaha 350 something. It's a beginner’s acoustic. I still have it.
I have been meaning to change the strings on it and play it again; they are over 3 years old.
The action on it is crap, but it sounds ok. The neck is very broke in and feels nice (Maybe because it was my only guitar for so long that my hands still feel good on it?).
I know I won’t ever get rid of it; I worked my *** off to get the $300 for that guitar. And I took it EVERY where with me.

My first was a Kay acoustic starter guitar, given to me by my uncle when I decided to take guitar. It's a worn model K500, which surprisingly I couldn't find anywhere on the Kay website, must be discontinued.

Red Yamaha Pacifica. loved that guitar,a nd always will. was walking by the guitar store one day, saw there was a big sale on all inventory, walked in, bought it on the spot, (didnt even know anything about guitars, or how to play) with money that was meant for something else, but i forget what. i get yelled at when i got home, but i dont regret it. its probably over 6 years old now, as i got it used, and i still use it for playing certain styles, and alternate tunings. right now its hanging on my wall hanger, next to the Jackson. dont think i'll ever sell either of em.

Mine was some crappy yamaha strat copy. I gave it to my little bro to learn how to play but he isn't so far. I'll take it back if he doesn't because it does have some sentimental value.

First guitar I ever owned was a 3/4 scale acoustic. I don't remember the brand. Suffice it to say it was a POS. I leant it to my brother to bring to summer camp once upon a time, and while he was swimming in the lake some older kids used it for BB gun target practice. It was returned to me in "holey" condition. Right now it's probably in a land-fill somewhere.

another one I've written about before...
re-posted from 4/05:
Dad gave me my first guitar back in the late 60's when I was about 7 or 8 years old. It was a Sorrento electric that came with a small amp. He paid $40 for the whole package. I lost track of the guitar somewhere along the way when I was still a kid. It turns out that Dad had given it to a musician friend of his to take a look at it because it had some sort of problem that I can't recall. Then last summer when I was back in Wisconsin visiting the family, I walked into this bar where my Dad was sitting there talking to this guy. It turned out to be the same guy he'd given my guitar to 35 years ago. He said the guitar was probably still sitting in his attic, where it had been collecting dust for all those years. It was, and now I have the guitar once again. It's a POS, but it's got sentimental value to me. I still have no idea what ever happened to that amp, though.

I learned to play acoustic git back in '78. My best friend who taught me took me to an old music store in SC where I bought a 1977 Martin-Sigma DR9 (Japanese made Martin D28 w/ rosewood sides & 3 piece back). Right now "Siggy" sits on a stand in Okeechobee, FL at my cousin's house. I gave it to her about 2 years ago to learn how to play.

A "Toredo" or "Toledo" I think, classical, nylon stringed acoustic guitar from Sam Ash in, I think, 1969. My brother got mad at me when I wasn't home once, maybe in 1975 or so, and kicked the back in, and then shot the fretboard with a .22 rifle. The bullet is still in it. I still have it. It's in my old apartment. A friend fixed the back with duct tape. It played okay last time I played it, around 1991 or so, I guess.
Damn! I got that thing 37 years ago. How embarassing. I should be a lot better than I am!

I started off with a project made Yamaha Pacifica style guitar. It had a lot of good things about it for a beginner. The pickups were alright and the playability was very good. It also looks good from a distance (where you couldn't tell it was a laminate). It's next to me right now and I use it whenever I verify tabs on the Internet before downloading them, or use it for unplugged playing.

I kept that guitar until I sold it around 3 years ago to a friend who's son wanted to upgrade from his Squire Strat. I told him that I wanted it back if the kid ever decided to get rid of it. That was a great playing guitar!

My first guitar is my dad's acoustic, but that doesn't really count...my first guitar of my own was a red Hohner Les Paul copy...was a nice little guitar, if I do say so myself. I sold it along with my first amp to a guy whose son wanted to learn to play guitar...it went to a good home. :)

My mum used to play acoustic and I played on that after my friend introducing me to guitar 2 years ago.
I put steel strings on it and the bridge came off
Now I have my treasured Onyx, which was my first electric - I got like 3 months after I started then broke my acoustic. Its a random custom brand I got for hell cheap with an amp. I love it, I've blocked the tremelo in it recently and its such a nice axe, I'll never rid of it.

I was eight or nine on an open air train in Spain in '70 or '71 (no we weren't rich, we lived in Liverpool and were on holiday across the pond, seven people in a Fiat station wagon). My Dad bought it for me off an old dude selling stuff at one of the train stops. Had it for years but couldn't play it. Gone now.
First played guitar, a '73 Fender f-65 dreadnought. Can't put into words how much I love this guitar, still my favorite acoustic. It's in the dining room next to my chair.
First electric, Mann Les Paul copy, gave it to my little brother, he ground off the sunburst filled one pick up hole and painted it flat black, I coulda killed him.

We found an old classical nylon stringed acoustic under our house. I googled the brand and it returned 0 results. The body was filled with acorns like the squirrels were using it as a vault. We didn’t know any better, so we put steel strings on it to replace only the broken ones, which tore it apart. Someone told us about our error, and we replaced the strings with nylon strings. Two of the strings on it are still original, and have been on it for over 30 years. While my friend was tuning it, he broke the high E string, so I learned to play using only 5 strings, hints my username.

A "Jason" semi-acoustic electric I bought whilst in high school, about 1966 or 1967. It had an awful action, lousy machine-heads (which I replaced), pickups that were mediocre and deaf, a rough neck and a fret job from hell. I strung it with "Black Diamond" flat-wound strings that were made of recycled fence-wire - rusty fence-wire at that.
I really don't know what happened to it. I know I didn't burn it (I was tempted) and perhaps I sold it to someone more desperate that I was to "look cool". It was my last electric until I discovered pedal-steel.
