i was just carousing around both sites and saw their strat-style bodies. Now i'm not luthier so i'll ask those of you who ARE. which would you prefer? I see the cheaper stewmac necks with ebony fretboard and their ash body but warmoth's seems so....quality...if you were given money, which would you choose? Warmoth or Stewmac for their bodies and necks?

Neither. I make my own from scratch. http://www.bigroadblues.com/dcforum/DCForumID13/528.html

oops i'm sorry i forgot to mention: i'm poor and don't have a well paying "job" or at job at all. So i try to get as much done with as little tools as possible which is why i'm asking whether the warmoth or stewmac necks/bodies are preferable

I have not bought bodies or necks from either, but the completed Warmouth guitars I have seen are quite stunning. They use VERY nice woods and are well made. Warmouth has been a very big name in bodies and necks for a while now, and are quite popular. If I was going to build an axe, I would get my neck from them.

I would buy the body and neck from Warmoth.
But the tools and misc parts to assemble it and set it all up from Stewmac. Especially if the frets need any dressing
To me, Stew Mac is more of a Luthier Tool site that sells bodies and necks while they are at it, In contrast Warmoth specializes in Necks and Bodies and you can pick up some parts while your there.

i prefer warmoth. i amde a strat out of their parsts and it is godlike...i love it. i posted a thread the other day with pics callled "my baby!!!!!!" is u wanna see it.
and the frets wont need dressing becuase becuase they do that for you if u buy a nut with it. they cut the nut specifically for each neck. and u can get stainless steel frets too, super slippery.
i would also suggest that if you get them to route for a bridge that they sell, that u buy it from them, becuase i had them route it fora wilkinson trem, and then bought one off ebay. the posts were the wrong size, i got it fixed, but my point is that there are many different types of bridges that appear the same but have slightly different dimentions.
they're bodies are awesome too, im gonna get a hollow body strat next.
and depending on wjhat kind of guitar u are going to build, it isnt too expensive considering how much Lp's and top of the line strats are.
