Maybe this doesn't count... but it's as close as I'll come. It's a Les Paul Custom that started life black, then went through a fire. When I bought it, it was a charred body with a lot of melted plastic and brown, singed paint. In 1982 I sanded it down and removed everything, then repainted it, clear-coated it, re-did all the inlays, and replaced all the parts with Gibson parts except for a SD bridge pickup and Dimarzio neck pickup.
Now, it's just like a fairly new Les Paul.

This dont really count but it took a hell of lot of work to remove all that green. Its an 80's Jap Westone active bass, I refinished it rewired it and stuck a shiny new bridge on it.
