What do i use?

i just finished paining a old guitar up but the finish dosent feel like a guitar should. What do i use to finish off my guitar, i have spray varathane but im not sure of that so i wont use it untill someone advises me. Any responses will be greatly apreciated thx!

What kind of paint did you use? Just make sure whatever clearcoat you use is compatible with the paint.

Varathane is a clear poly. Do you have gloss or satin? If you have satin, just steel wool it after sufficient drying time. Superfine wool #0000. You can get it at any lowes or home depot.

If you have gloss. You can steel wool it with superfine, but you'll also need to polish it to bring back the high gloss.

Going back to my initial comment. Your best bet would be to use the same brand clearcoat as the paint you used.

I used super gloss, i forget the brand name but the hardwear store is a tones throw away so i can go visit it again to get the proper coat,thx juststartin.
