View Full Version : Podcast of MISHMANNAH Interview Is "Up"!
Tingly
July 29th, 2006, 07:20 PM
My podcast interview of mishmannah is ready.
She was a GREAT interview! This is one talented lady! Like Keith before her, and most of our members, she is bright, quick and funny.
She talked about how she learned the guitar, what she is working on presently, what guitars she owns right now, playing with Martin Edwards, and the guitar she is currently building.
As usual, the instructions are the same:
Click on the link below, (http://www.switchpod.com/p2859.html)
Scroll down to "4649 Episode 10"
Click on "Listen" and the program will start.
If ya don't have a flash player "plug in," a box will appear. Above the box. click on: "You can download the file by clicking here". It's your choice, then, to download and save it or just listen to the "stream."
Enjoy!
And don't hesitate to let me know what you think (but, please be gentle).

Oops.
There is a section of the interview that repeats, at about 5:32 and 6:22, when I asked mish about the kind of guitar she plays nowadays. I'm not sure how that happened. I obviously overlooked an edit somehow (fatigue, probably). My humblest apologies!!

Martin Joseph! I really liked his sound. Another musician who should be famous but isn't yet.
Great interview Tingly and Mish! This is really fun stuff. JS is going high tech.

Wow Tingly!
You have a perfect face, I mean voice for radio. jk
The interview you conducted is in the same league as professional Djs. You have a fantastic voice.
Mish, nice to hear your voice and learn a little more about you. Loved your playing.
Very well done.

Yeah, Schnee, you are right about the sound quality.
I freely admit that I am still learning. I am also constrained by the equipment on the other side of the connection. People don't often have great mics connected to their computers for everyday use, nor are they equipped with breath "pop" screens or isolation booths. Plus, computer to computer calling itself is a little uneven in terms of quality. I felt Keith came through clearer from Canada, than Mish did from England (although I made a slight mistake in his interview, in terms of my choice of an omni-directional mic). Mish's volume was too low throughout the whole interview, and she could hardly hear me, although we were both "maxed out" on volume, on both ends.
I was able to increase the gain on her answers a bit, during editing, but there is a limit to that, too. If I had lifted it any further, I would have introduced too much background noise.

Hahahaa!!!!! It was a real pleasure talking to you!!
You did a sterling job, Tingly!! Really appreciate the hard work that goes into these podcasts.
Mind you, the stuff in this interview contained only less than HALF the stuff we talked about.

wow that intro is beautiful!! keep on listening to the rest of the show... By the way, MISHMANNAH , the soundclick link in your profile is dead and that's why i can't ever listen to your songs.
I just can't resist that beautiful accent! 17 years of playing!!! wow...
Mishmannah, I LOVE that acoustic song you did despite the jittering of the podcast episode. (where's the sound guy???? news tech support????)
this podcast is a classic along with Keith's. Both will be burnt to a gold CD and put in my collection.

Mish your playing is down right beautiful.
Loved the whole thing Tingly.
Funny thing is, I was listening to it and my mother overheard and thought I was talking to some online perv. I said "No this is Tingly from Jamsession" She flipped out about your name XD
I don't really blame her because of the whole "Hello boys and girls" thing.

Great interview Samantha and Tim! Even though the volume was a bit low in the recording, head phones helped as well as some EQ'ing.
Sam, you have a great voice hun :) Uhmmmmm Ya, uhmmmm Great voice (Inside joke inserted there)
The intro was absolutely brill..Keep up the wonderful playing:)
It's nice to place a voice behind the text and make it that much more personal.

One comment. Why are they called 'episode 10' etc? After awhile how will we know which interview is which? Shouldn't it be called 'episode 10 - Mishmannah interview'?
Tingly
July 31st, 2006, 08:17 AM
MetalWerk: That particular podcast is supposed to be subtitled, "An Interview With Mishmannah," and I did enter that into the data page for uploading, but, you are correct, I do not see that notation anywhere!
Switchpod asks that I keep the name of the file short. I will think about that, and try some different fixes.
'Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for pointing that out!

You should, Bee. I think you'd enjoy it. Mish was very interesting. 'Serious English accent, but clear and understandable. She talks in short, rapid phrases, like a New Yorker displaced west of London. She said things like she was "chuffed off," when Martin Edwards complimented her. I had no idea what "chuffed off" meant and she explained that she meant she felt "well complimented." Her playing was really exquisite. Like her voice, it was very melodic, yet precise, and very polished. Each note is purposeful, with no sloppiness or self consciousness. Folksy, but with a classical component to it. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

These podcasts are cool. I listened to the ones with Scott and Keith, and now Mish. Way cool man. When Mish mentioned that she started out on a recorder I thought of Eric Clapton. He played one for a while when he was in school.

Yeah - I am a new podcast junkie.
Believe it or not, I am an ignorant technophobe (and a dumba$$) who up until recently believed you needed an ipod to hear a podcast. Once my stupidity took a brief hiatus, I discovered the wonder of podcasts.
Mishmannah - Great interview. (You probably hear this a lot, but love the accent!) You are a supremely talented guitarist AND a fascinating person. And you're lefty. That makes you perfect!
More of these! More!

Exmouth is a total dive, full of junkies. We lived a minute's walk from the seafront. Bliss. Sidmouth rocks. Budleigh Salterton is full of grannies. :D
