This guy says he's from Florida, where I've lived for a good 9 years. He's fairly well known around here, and for a darn good reason. Check him out playing a acoustic While my guitar gently weeps.

Any awesome guitarist (or atleast well known) from your area?

Oh, and of course theres Ron Aitken (my teacher) played for Joe Walsh and The Eagles.

Doyle Dykes is WAY better than pretty good IMHO. A real Florida treasure I think. I have seen him once in Atlanta, amazing guitarist and a really funny guy too. If you get an opportunity to see him don't pass it up. He has done some workshops for Taylor where he goes around a actually shows folks how to do stuff. A very generous musician.

Where fron in Florida Helzbells, I'm in Mt Dora, just North of Orlando...

In the Valley in LA we have this awesome blues player named John Marx...I am surprised I was able to find one video with him and it's pretty good. The guy is one of the best players I have ever seen/met. He hosts this jam night at a club next to me and fretboartonfire on mondays. His band is amazing...the guy is just insane...he knows at least 500 inversions of each chord that ever existed lol...he is soo awesome and knows how to keep the blues and jazz fresh.

That guy is some guitarist! I didn't like having to listen to two minutes of jibber jabber before he got down to business though.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, born in the city, raised in San Mateo (about 30 miles south). This was back in the '50s and '60s. There were a LOT of great musicians that came out of there. Some of the greats from the Bay Area include: Jerry Garcia (San Francisco), Carlos Santana (born in Mexico, but moved to SF), John Fogerty (from Berkely), and Neil Schon (San Mateo). There are a lot more, but those are the only ones I can think of. I thought of some others, but they were from elsewhere, like I always thought Janis Joplin was from SF, but she's originally from Texas. Jorma Kaukonen is another one that I thought was a local yokel, but he's from DC. They both moved to "The City" in the '60s though.

San Francisco sure ain't what it used to be though. The best radio station back then was KSAN. An FM station (at that time FM was "underground") that was started by a bunch of hippies with an album collection. They played Gratefull Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service, all that "hippy" stuff. Last time I drove through there they were playin' Country music. Good thing I had a CD player in the car. Nuthin' like drivin' throught the park with Hendrix on full blast! :toohappy:

Well, there's my two minutes of jibber jabber. :)
