Has anybody used this simple soldering design to do inlays? I dont plan to do it on my guitar but is there any reason why this should not work? and does anybody have any pictures, if so?

Do you mean pyrography, the art of burning designs into wood?
If you do, this is an example..I was doing some research for some knotwork, and uh...came across this... :p

lol crap i left out the link. sorry im mental. no its this design where you rout your design, then just pretty much melt solder into the routed area, and then sand it.

I strongly suspect that the sheet of metal would just fall out. On an electric it won't affect the tone much, but it'll kill an acoustic

I was messing around with solder and tried that out the other night on a whim (I'm not as original as I thought, apparently) ad it fell right out, however, it's kept its shape so I bet it could be slapped back in with a little epoxy and sanded up nice.
