What scale should I use? It sounds like possibly A Dorian but I really have no idea.

Well you got A,B,C,D,E,G - add an F to that and you get A Aeolian . . .

Add an F# and you got A Dorian - so take your pick

So if I want to throw in Blues notes, what blues scale would I use?

it looks like that riff is at 1st an Am/A5/A7 riff - the last section section looks like it goes to an E5 - so the I & V of A Blues or the IV & I of E Blues

You could play either an A Blues scale (A-C-D-Eb-E-G) or an E Blues scale (E-G-A-Bb-B-D) - You have all the notes there that are in an A minor pent AND an E minor pent - your call - depends on where it wants to resolve.

A blues based on minor pent, I guess, with the flat V'th scale degree.

Whoops, kernix beat me to it.

I have notes A B C D E F# G, so it's A dorian. I still don't know what blues scale to play.

I'd go A blues or A minor pent.

Everything you have there is A pent. minor, and the blues would be throwing in the Eb (1st on 4th), except (pardon my ignorance) I don't understand your 3b notation. Aren't you showing frets here? What is 3b? 3? or 2?

I have notes A B C D E F# G, so it's A dorian. I still don't know what blues scale to play.

Or E F# G A B C D which is E natural minor or E aeolian - thow in an Eb if based on A dorian or a Bb if E aeolian.

I think the b means bend.

bending to a G# or A? either will work A or E blues A dorian or E aeolian - try them both

It's not even really a half bend. It's more of a 1/8th bend, which is more of a vibrato than anything.

And thanks. I got confused with everything. It's in A Dorian, which is G Major and E minor. I didn't know whether to use A blues, G blues, E minor blues...

If you ever wanna know which blues scale to use, it's always gonna be the same as the minor key your in. For instance, in this song you said 'E minor' therefore, E blues would be the blues scale to use. Then again, you could use G blues as well to get the 'Sweet home Alabama' kinda feel, with your tonal center being the 'G' note. Just buy a boss loop station, and you will learn how to solo over anything, believe me. It's the greatest thing I ever bought.

I still get confused. It's in G technically with an A root note. When I goofed around with E blues, it didn't sound too good. None of the others did either.

Listed - the first main section is basically an A5 with an occasional C & D in the bass - the next section is basically an E5 with an occasional C & D

So that's either the I-IV of an tune in E that's starts on the IV and finishes on the I

or it's the I-V of a tune in A that starts on the I, goes to the V and most likely would resolve nicely back to the I chord

So just play A blues or another A minor scale.
