Hey

I have been playing Free's "Alright Now" for some time now. I have learned the entire song. However I am NOW having some doubts if I am playing it right.

Can anybody tell me the official chords for the main riff?

This is how I have been doing the main riff

Doesnt look quite right to me - main riff should start in the open A position on the second fret - it just sounds better there. Then D and thats it just A to D - the chorus is more interesting. Theres loads of Tab you can download on the net.

I'm working from memory here because I don't have a copy of the recording to hand. However, ISTR that there are two guitars on the original, panned left and right, and playing slightly different parts. One of them is like this...

Oh that looks more professional to me, and it looks like that’s what they would have used.

Where it goes:

[---2---]
[---2---]

Do you have to Barr fret 2 and then do the same for the bottom two strings on fret 5?

I don’t know if my fingers could do this, any advice.

Ive played this for years and Id just barr the A with one finger and ad that D thing ( Thats a bit vague!) - but the rest looks more or less right. Watch Koss playing it on youtube. Is it on Copychops?

have a look at "copychops" - its got the main riff and the chorus. Now i think Ive been playing it wrong for the last 25 years!! :smile:
