Well figure I would jump in and say Hi to everyone. A little about myself... Im 41 with two kids. I had a old beat up electric when I was younger, but never realy spent the time to learn. It was realy not a good guitar. it would loose tune all the time, and just sounded bad. Sold it off for cheap about 15 years ago. Well now that I am older,[smarter??? na :D ] I am looking to get back into it. Dont have one yet, but realy thinking of one of the lower end Epi Les Pauls. Having two young kids, makes time and money short, so who knows when I will get one. For now I am studing up.

Welcome s1120!

I love my cheap Epi electric. When it's time to buy, I suggest you try to find a place that has several and take some time and sort thru them. The frets on the lower-end epiphones can be OK, or they can have sharp ends like a cheese grater. Find a good one.

Welcome to the Jam Session!

Welcome.

Epiphone les pauls are a great choice. Les Paul himself was interviewed and he said the Epiphones were just as good as the Gibsons.
I don't know about that, but, that says alot.

Welcome to the forum fellow old fart! Never too late to learn and this is the best place on the net to do so. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Get into the lessons here, use the search function, and participate in the community.
Glad you joined and good luck!

Ditto on the welcome wagon from an older fart on the other coast. My Epi LP is really my first electric and still my only. I had a buddy who knows gear go with me on the day I bit the bullet (Father's Day) and he tested about 5 or 6 that my dealer had, ended up with a beauty. I'm a rhythym player slowly getting into leads and love the tone. I play it thru a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Looking for a Strat next, just for variety, but not in a real hurry. I'm pretty new to this forum and check it out about every day now. Good jammin' to ya.

I had a Gibson LP in the past, but now own an Epi and actually like the neck better than the Gibson I used to have, of course the price was a lot better on the Epi as well.

I would recommend looking at some low end Agiles or the Ibanez Gio (like the one I have). They are good beginner guitars.

And yes...welcome aboard!

Welcome...I own two Epi Les Pauls and they both play real nice. One of them is hot rodded and the other is original. I've only been playing for a short while and mostly all i know is scales. Don't get me wrong i've had guitars for probably 40 years (off and on). I finally said the 773H with this and i started to learn seriously. Anyhow, Epis are good starter guitars if you shop around for a used one. New ones are pricey and not as good as the old ones. If you are looking for a good alternative to the Epi, check out the so-called "lawsuit guitars" on Ebay...the Tokai Love Rocks and the Burny guitars. I recently picked up a lawsuit Les Paul copy that a friend played and he said it was every bit as good as the Gibson Les Pauls he's had.

Welcome to JS. Good Luck on the Epiphone purchase .. I had an Epiphone Sunburst Flametop Custom Les Paul for many years...swapped out tuners and pickups/pots for Grovers and Gibson hardware. Sounded and played wonderfully. If your into the Les Paul take a look at Musicians Friends Vintage Mahogany Les Paul ..799 bucks made in USA carved top les paul studio with bare bones looks and BURSTBUCKER PRO"S!. Good to have you on board!
