Every once in awhile here on "The Jam," someone will write something, and you won't know what the hell they are talking about, because they will include some mysterious letters or symbols with no clue as to what they mean.

Don't panic! It is not the DaVinci Code! Most likely, you have merely come across an arcane Internet chat room, or forum, abbreviation.

So, here's a list for you. The most common abbreviations appear below.

Of course, the "hip lingo" of the Internet is constantly changing, so there may never be a truly "complete" list, but this should at least be of some help.

If you know of any abbreviations not on the list, feel free to add them, or, as always, just write some sarcastic comment on the whole stupid system.

Now, [U]please note: NOT ALL OF THESE ARE ACCEPTABLE to use on *this* forum. But, they appear here so you can at least decipher their meaning.

Why does a word like "abbreviation" have so many letters?
