Hello,

I've been checking out this forum for the past few weeks and it is awesome. Its already answered a number of questions for me just by checking out some of the threads. I've also checked out some of the lessons here, WOW this is great. I've never been in any chat room or forum of any kind so this is pretty new.

Ok. About me. I'm 34, started playing guitar when I was 14, but haven't hardly touched the guitar for the past 10 years. I made a mistake about 5 or 6 years ago and sold my Crate VC50 for next to nothing because I was "tripping over it". Hindsight is always 20/20. I never really thought I would play again. Anyway I recently sold my 1978 Les Paul Custom  (What, are you nuts?) I know, I know. But I do not regret that move. The guitar played like a dream but I didn't like the tuners (they weren't original), and it had EMG actives (which I think I grew out of). The guitar looked like it went through a sandblaster, although i don't really get too picky about looks, especially when it comes to vintage stuff. But when I sold it I had the itch to start again, so I got myself a Schecter c/sh-1 semi-hollow body and I love it. It is much more comfortable than my LP, and lighter, and I just love it.

I think all the time off from playing taught me alot, now I have a whole new approach to playing. One thing is I like my action higher and I don't need as much distortion, is that a sigh of maturity or what. ha ha. I have a better idea of what I want and I'm not LYING TO MYSELF. I'm more willing to ask stupid questions, and not feel stupid about it. I've never had any formal training on the guitar and never had any good input on equipment (I never wanted to ask stupid questions). So thats why I'm here, to get input from other players. You guys have already answered many questions. Tube amp input, different size picks, different size strings, things I never thought of before because I stayed in my bedroom and played my guitar and never went to "Jam Session".

Anyway, sorry for the long intro, but thanks for the website and thanks for all th info, you guys are great and I'll stick around and give you my questions and maybe even some input.
