View Full Version : Introducing Myself - Sorta

I've been apart of this forum for like... what seems two years or so, and I've never really voiced much, except starting a few threads with technique questions, exercises, voicing my opinion on topics that strike my interest or helping other folks with what small amount of knowledge I have on the matter through personal experience, and here recently, about my new guitar. I finally thought it would be time to tell a little about myself (as far as guitar playing goes and a little nik-nak stuff).

I'm twenty years old, and I've been playing guitar for about two and a half years now. I enjoy a large scale of bands/artists. I'll sit back and jam out to Children of Bodom, Metallica, or maybe some Black Label Society, and then turn to some old school Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, or maybe some SRV. On my guitar-oriented days of listening, I'll look to Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

The one guitarist I look up to was the great Randy Rhoads. I guess you could say he is my guitar hero, but my main influences (as a guitarist) are Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, Slash, and just life itself. Those three styles of playing, both similar and different in their own right, I just gravitate to for some reason.

As you can possibly guess by now, I play metal-styled music. I learned a lot of Metallica tunes which formed the basis of my repetoire, and some Bodom, but I guess the type of stuff I write (when I go into the writing process when I come up with a riff, or chord progression, would be called "soft metal" if there had to be a classification). I don't really see myself as a guitar player, but more-so as an artist. Some may say they are the same, but to me, there is a big difference, but I wont get into that.

I play out of a Marshall combo with celestion speakers and MGFX head. The guitar I bought recently is an ESP/LTD Deluxe Eclipse in black with EMG 60/81 active pickups.

I think that about sums stuff up... but if you have any questions, just ask!

Thanks fellas. I've enjoyed what little time I've invested here. Great community and all. The pic? Haha... That was taken at a gig about three years ago. Boy, how do things change.
