AcoustiGull

I woke up new years day and decided my resolution for this year was to learn how to play the guitar. By the end of that week I had bought an acoustic/electric Seagull S6+ with spruce top. I love the guitar and find it quite therapuetic to practice.
By training I am an architect, but my creative side seems to be repressed lately, as I work for a relatively large company spending the majority of my time managing many other architects and designers. I think the guitar gives me a creative outlet that has been missing lately. This past year has probably been the most difficult in my life with health and personal issues that very few people know about. I look forward each day to spending time practicing my guitar.
I have never had any musical training or inclination, until now. Since buying the guitar I have taught myself about 15 basic chords, but soon realized I would have to learn how to read music. I signed up for a 6 week guitar class at the local YMCA and am just about done with that and will probably sign up for another 6 weeks. I am learnng to read music and play simple melodies, and a few new chords. I am getting anxious to put it all together and learn to play some real songs. I am finding the guitar more complicated than I expected and the more I learn, the more I find there is to learn.
This looks like a great site and I have learned, probaby more than I realize, from just reading everyones posts and responses. Looking forward to learning more from each of you.
Hope it doesn't cut into my practice time too much!
