I think this is the right place for this question...

Since I installed Texas Specials in my strat I've had problems with buzz. It will go away when I touch any of the screws on the pickguard or the jackplate, I would assume because I'm grounding it on myself.

I currently have the ground wire soldered to my copper shielding on the pickguard, but prior to that I had it soldered to the trem claw and the same issue. Is there a fault in my wiring somewhere else or am I just grounding it wrong? Help is appreciated!

If you have it properly grounded, the buzzing should go away when you touch any metal part of the guitar, including the bridge and the strings. If it doesnt go away when you touch the strings, it's not grounded right. When you send the grounds to the back of the trem claw, they pass the ground current through the springs, through the bridge, and up the strings so that when you touch them, you complete the ground.

Edit: Also, you'll get a lot more help if you post in the tools of the trade section. Nobody really checks this section anymore...

Try grounding to the input jack. Make sure it's good wire and the solder is a good joint. Does your amp have a ground plug?
